Fine Arts

Development of the appreciation of art and music is one of the requirements in the Washington Homeschooling Law. it is not a requirement to pay for private lessons, though one may choose to do that. Students in Washington may take classes in the public schools (as an ancillary service) in the public school district where they reside. However, many students do take private lessons and may even be involved in community groups and youth choirs or orchestras.

Karen presently gives clarinet and piano lessons. She is a trained vocalist who has spent many years working with children's choirs. Various individuals have expressed interest in their children being instructed in singing, instrumental ensembles (band), and recorder lessons in a group situation. Classes are set up as is needed or individual lessons can be given. Link to Les Mis site.

Ceramics instruction can be provided on a group or individual basis. This is an excellent way to fulfill art credits in the homeschooling curriculum. The tools cost $15-20. Additional costs will be assessed for greenware, paints, and firing.
