Introduction

Science is one of the 11 required subject areas that parents must cover if they homeschool in Washington state. The following introductory comments are my personal philosophy on teaching this subject. I feel that an approach that focuses both on "natural learning" and textbook learning with experiments is crucial to a complete understanding of this subject. If your child is involved in 4-H or Girl or Boy Scouts, many of the following activities will be wonderful projects that can help your student earn badges.
