Secular vs. Christian curriculum
I know many parents who choose to have their students only use a Christian science curriculum; and I certainly respect that belief. I can certainly understand this philosophy, particularly for students of the elementary grades, if parents are not wanting their primary children subjected to topics dealing with evolution when that is not a belief of the family. I do, however, choose not to use a Christian curriculum for the junior and senior high school students. During these grades, I feel the student must study an approach that teaches the evolutionary theory in depth. Even many scientists and many books present the subject of evolution as, "The Theory of Evolution". It is admitted that it is a theory. Since your children will not always be with you in your home, students must develop their capacity to prove, for themselves, that the theories that are presented in the secular books have flaws. They will, eventually, go on to college where they may very well be taught the Theory of Evolution as fact, and they need to know how to deal with that presentation. They need to be able to move beyond, "This is my parents beliefs" to "These are my beliefs and this is why". When discussing this subject with friends, it must be more than an, "I believe" statement. They must develop statements of proof. It is, of course, your decision as a parent to choose the curriculum that you feel is best for your student; so my comments on this subject are not a directive from me to you, merely my philosophy. I used this approach with my children; and they all know the scientific facts, theories, and have proven that creation is the only logical fact.
